Back to school

It’s the first week of September, and however old you are, it still feels like the new school year is about to begin. My niece started pre school today. I can’t believe she’s so big already and I feel sorry for the pre school teachers who have to try and resist her gorgeous little curls and cheeky grin.
My favourite thing about September as a child was getting new school supplies. Like Meg Ryan in You’ve Got Mail, I dream of bouquets of freshly sharpened pencils, a new pencil case and a retro lunchbox. When I started school I had a bright red lunchbox with Spot the Dog on it, it had a matching red thermos flask. I loved that lunchbox.

I was planning to buy little miniature suitcases and baskets to go in the expedit bookcase in the craft studio, but I’m now fighting the urge to buy some retro 80′s lunch boxes from ebay, and maybe a Shinzi Katoh creation to go with them…
