Navy and white

Flipping through an issue of Ideal Home there was a photograph of a home office with the most incredible navy blue paint colour on the walls. I instantly needed to use this colour and after very little begging, was allowed to plan the bedroom for the new house around the colour.

Secretly my favourite thing about this board is the little bedside cabinet. It’s old fashioned but more importantly it looks like one of the naughty little cabinets in Mary Poppins that make adorable noises.

The wooden name sign was an etsy find and was my present to my husband on our wedding day. My next mission may be to visit a few junk shops to buy some old blue and white china as I continue to collect fabric for the navy and white quilt.

Country Living

I can just imagine sitting here with a cup of tea in the morning, and a glass of wine in the evening, listening to the birds singing. Today it’s pouring with rain in the city centre so I shall sit back and dream of living here…

Polly George makes the most gorgeous pottery. I love both the birds and butterflies range, but particularly this bird cake stand. Her designs are beautifully understated and simple.

My what big teeth you have…

My Grandmother used to have a fridge magnet which said “the one who dies with the most fabric wins!”  We’re pretty sure she won as her house was filled with fabric, the majority of which my Mum inherited and my sisters and I have added to our fabric stashes from the treasures she had saved.

One fabric my Mum and I both adored was a vintage Little Red Riding Hood print. There’s a reproduction version of it available (see below).

Reproduction Red Riding Hood fabric

We ended up splitting the fabric and taking half each. The fabric has been in the running to be included in nearly every quilt, babygro, applique project I’ve ever worked on but it’s so precious I don’t want to waste it! I think it would be lovely on a chair like this in the craft studio, with another remnant of it framed in a pretty white frame on the desk.

hallway decor

So simple but elegant and it displays the images/memories they treasure, plus there’s a bench. I’m a sucker for wooden benches…
